FAQs
Drivers are used for implantation, fixation, tightening, and removal in dental prosthetic surgeries. They have different dimensions to work compatibly with various surgical contra-angles, torque requirements, and prosthetic parts.
The idea is that they connect to the oral prosthetic part and help the surgeon control the placement, movement, and securing into the mouth- providing a more tactile and reliable approach.
GDT Dental Implants develops several types of drivers for use in dental prosthetic surgeries.
Here is an overview of the various options and their primary uses.
- Hand hex drivers: Hand hex drivers are manual-use drivers used primarily for installing or removing cover screws, abutments, and healing caps. They come in several heights and sizes for universal compatibility.
- Motor mount drivers: A motor mount driver is used together with a latch-type contra-angle handpiece to make it easier to control the insertion and implantation of dental prosthetics.
- Manual torque driver: Torque drivers increase the precision of placement, setting, and tightening on prosthetics in dental surgery. A manual driver is used for lower torque limits.
- Surgical torque ratchet wrench driver: Like manual torques, these devices are used to enhance precision and accuracy- but for prosthetics with higher torque limits. These can be used in conjunction with other drivers for the best overall performance and dental solutions.
A surgical torque rachet wrench driver is used in oral prosthetics when high torque is especially important. Some of the most common uses include the installation and removal of implants, caps, and any other prosthetic attachments with a torque requirement of more than 20 Ncm.
The 6.35mm surgical torque driver is compatible with various prosthetics and has a torque setting range of 20 to 100 Ncm for optimal versatility and precision.
Manual torque drivers are used on prosthetic parts with a torque limit of 15 Ncm- for example, tightening screws on covers and healing caps.
GDT Dental Implants uses only the safest and most durable materials in all oral surgery tools and products. All the drivers used for prosthetics are made using surgical-grade stainless steel or carbon steel. This ensures easy sterilization, long-lasting resistance to corrosion, and reliable strength during surgical procedures.
